Very active Austfonna glacier

Ship operators needs to observe that a Svalbard glacier pushes lots if ice into the ocean.

The very large Basin-3 on Austfonna is surging for the first time in 140 years. It is now probably pouring more ice into the ocean than all of Svalbard’s other glaciers combined. These are findings using the European Union’s new Sentinel-1a satellite.
