Again in 2014 AECO presented at the Arctic Circle Assembly. The Arctic Circle, is an open assembly for international cooperation on Arctic issues, which convened for the second time in Reykjavík, this month. This year AECO participated in the panels of two well visited break-out sessions by the name: ‘Mainstreaming Arctic Sustainability’ and ‘The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity’.
The conference aims at facilitating dialogue and building relationships regarding the future challenges of the Arctic. The Arctic Circle was again this year spearheaded by Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, President of Iceland. Participants in the Arctic Circle include a range of global decision-makers from all sectors, including political and business leaders, indigenous representatives, nongovernmental and environmental representatives, policy makers, scientists, experts, activists, students and the media.
