Joint Arctic SAR TTX in Reykjavik

March 1st, 2016

Plans are developing for the Joint Arctic Search and Rescue (SAR) Table Top Exercise (TTX) that AECO has organized in Reykjavik in cooperation with Hurtigruten and the Icelandic Coast Guard. At the end of February, the organizers met in Reykjavik to discuss and plan the event. At this point approximately 60 participants have signed up. The attendees include SAR responders from six different Arctic nations, representatives from more than 15 operators and vessels owners/managers, and some observers. Iceland’s Minister of Interior, Ólöf Nordal, will provide opening remarks.

The objective of the TTX is to strengthen the cooperation and exchange of knowledge and information between the Arctic cruise industry and various Arctic SAR entities. The focus of the TTX will be an incident involving an expedition cruise vessel with the aim of learning and identifying areas that can be improved.
