This month, AECO participated in the inaugural meeting of the Arctic Shipping Best Practices Information Forum in London. The forum was initiated by the Protection of the Arctic Marine Environment (PAME) working group, which is an Arctic Council working group.
The aim of the meeting is to make publicly available, at a single web portal with information to support the effective implementation of the Polar Code. In addition to Arctic Council members, including Arctic States, Permanent Participants and Observers, the Forum was attended by a wide spectrum of stakeholders with an interest in Arctic shipping.
AECO contributed to the meeting by giving a presentation highlighting the expedition cruise industry’s collaborative approach to industry guidelines and standards. AECO is an example of how the industry can come together and be a driving force when it comes to responsible and sustainable development. AECO will continue to support the important work of Arctic Shipping Best Practices Information Forum.
