The Association of Arctic Expedition Cruise Operators (AECO) is an international association for Arctic expedition cruise operators and associated industries. AECO’s main objectives are to ensure environmentally friendly, safe and considerate tourism in the Arctic, and to advocate for the interests of our members. Our 75 international members operate more than 50 vessels in the Arctic. AECO’s secretariat presently has six employees, and our head office is in Tromsø, Norway.
In line with the growing Arctic expedition cruise industry, AECO is developing and looking to expand our Secretariat. To help us manage and carry out our tasks, we are hiring new team members:

We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic, diplomatic and collaborative colleagues.
For all three positions it is desirable that applicants have a relevant higher education, and knowledge and experience from relevant work. The ideal candidates have experience from the polar expedition cruise industry. The positions require excellent oral and written communication skills (fluent/native English), and preferable fluency in one of the Scandinavian languages. Applicants should have good computer software skills.

Head of Administration

Our head of administration will be part of AECO’s management team and will have responsibilities and tasks related to AECO’s overall portfolio with special focus on administration, finance, HR, HSE and membership service. Responsibilities will include operational planning, financial control and reporting as well as ensuring professional operations and compliance with relevant legal requirements. Among responsibilities and tasks are budgeting, recruitment, staff management, training measures, health, safety and environment including liaising with AECO’s external Occupational Health Service provider to develop and maintain AECO’s policies and tools. The positional will also be involved in membership service and specialize in AECO’s Bylaws and membership obligations. AECO’s Head of Administration will be managing a growing administrative department.
To be successful in this role, our new colleague should have an extensive experience and background in administration, finance and HR. The person should also have strong skills in leadership, strategy, communication and cooperation. AECO’s multi-cultural working environment and international membership require that our head of administration is comfortable with communication across cultures and able to understand different national backgrounds, systems and legal frameworks.
