Ny-Ålesund Research Station Guidelines
Founded and owned by Kings Bay AS, Ny-Ålesund was originally established as a mining community in 1916, though
from the 1960s research has been the main activity. Traces from the coal mining period are still visible to this day
Kobbefjord Research Station Guidelines
The station is located at the end of a fjord called Kangerluarsunnguaq (in Danish: Kobbefjord) which means
“The little fjord”. The fjord is part of Nuup Kangerlua – the largest fjord system in West Greenland.
