Arctic search and rescue exercise gathers cruise industry and responders

More than 80 representatives from the Arctic expedition cruise industry, the search and rescue sector and academia participated in the Fourth Joint Arctic Search and Rescue (SAR) Workshop and Tabletop Exercise in Reykjavik this week.

AECO joins Svalbard’s Emergency Preparedness Council

A new milestone has been reached for AECO this month as the association was invited to become part of Svalbard’s council for public safety, preparedness and crises management. 

AECO represents cruise industry in new Arctic SAR network

Cruise industry, authorities and researchers will join forces to enhance Arctic SAR through the new ARCSAR network. Having secured €3.5 million in EU funding, the ARCSAR project will run for five years and include a live exercise on a cruise vessel.

Expedition cruise ships help locate sailboat presumed lost in Svalbard

Monday evening, Northern Norway’s Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) received signals from an Emergency position indicating radio beacon (EPIRB) transmitting from a position just north of Magdalenafjorden (Magdalena Bay) in Svalbard.
